Security Window Film for Northwest Harvest

Safety is one of the most important things in our hierarchy of needs. No wonder we shape our routines to keep ourselves safe and well. We secure our homes with locks, alarms, and security window film. While driving a car, we always fasten our seatbelts. Moreover, we examine our potential workplace safety before deciding to work there.

Not only is well-being important for individuals, but it is also a top priority for business owners. All they care about is the safety of their employees and customers. A sentiment becomes even more significant when the company is situated in an area with a higher-than-average crime rate.

Location: Yakima, WA

The picturesque city of Yakima is the heart of Central Washington. It is a vivid example of a pot of cultural diversity where everyone can find themselves surrounded by beautiful landscapes. Being the 11th largest city in Washington State, Yakima has been a central hub for business, education, and health services. With a track record of almost 5000 establishments, undoubtedly, it is a perfect place to run a business.

However, Yakima is also known for its comparatively high crime rate. In 2021, according to the Yakima Police report, the crime rate in the city was 4.5 times higher than the national average. Although the number of crimes has slightly decreased in 2023, citizens are still aware of the danger. For this reason, individuals and businesses make sure to improve their safety.

One of such businesses is Northwest Harvest, whose story we are more than happy to share with you.

Company: Northwest Harvest

As noted, Yakima is a home for communities of diverse cultures. Their habits, traditions, and cuisines blend and create a unique face of the city. Nevertheless, it’s crucial to remember that some communities may face inequality, discrimination, and, as a result of that, hunger.

In 1967, a group of social activists started an organization (now – Northwest Harvest), whose aim was to end hunger. Over the years, the initiative developed, and in 2010, it became a statewide agency. Later, in 2019 Northwest Harvest opened the SODO Community Market in Seattle. Nowadays, the company continues to succeed and show its commitment as an anti-racist, anti-oppression food justice organization. Northwest Harvest delivers two million meals monthly through over 400 statewide partners. Their dedication and transparency are proven by Charity Navigator (Four Star Charity), the Platinum Seal of Transparency, and the Better Business Bureau.

To enhance trust and safety for customers and employees, Northwest Harvest decided to install a security window film. We, D&A Customs, were happy to help them with it.

Security Film for Safety

Northwest Harvest wanted to avoid the injuries caused by broken glass. For that reason, we suggested installing 14 mil safety and security window film on their storefront. This film is applied to vulnerable glass surfaces, protecting against potential damage from severe weather conditions, break-ins, and accidental breakages.

We used Solar Gard Armcoat film and, additionally, enhanced its durability by attaching it to the window frame with silicone DowSil 995.

Security Film for Privacy

Another concern for Northwest Harvest was privacy. To address this, we suggested applying an 8 mil silver 20 safety and security window film (Solar Gard Armorcoat) to their offices in the same building. As a result, all the employees can now be sure they will not encounter any unexpected onlookers.

Silicone DowSil 995 also played a crucial role for us here, given its proven reputation for improving the film’s durability.
