We all want to enjoy the beauty of the city where we live. It may be your hometown, the place where you met your partner, or started your life from scratch. Without a doubt, your place of residence is tightly knit to your personal contacts and significant life events. You cherish it, but in return, you seek safety and privacy.

Safety and privacy are not only your top priorities but also the government’s. Local authorities do their best to maintain safety, equality, and justice in their communities. The issue becomes crucial in areas with high crime rates, such as Pierce County, WA. For that reason, their local public transportation service, Pierce Transit, contacted us to enhance the protection of their workers and property by applying our window films.

They entrusted us with 3 locations in 2 cities (Tacoma and Lakewood), and our team did everything possible to ensure their safety.

Pierce County

Pierce County is home to quite a few ethnic groups. This, undeniably, turns the area into a cultural mosaic situated among the beauties of urban and rural areas. However, misunderstanding among people and cultures may sometimes lead to higher chances of crimes.

This, sadly, is happening in some of the County’s towns. For example, Tacoma, the third-largest city in WA, suffers from lawbreaking. Crime reports claim that its crime rate is more than 300% higher than the national average. Another city in Pierce County, Lakewood, is a bit safer but still not crime-free. The number of crimes per square mile here stands at 201 compared to a much smaller national median (27). Considering this data, highly aware public and private businesses try to protect their employees and property from undesired wrongdoings. So does Pierce Transit.

Pierce Transit and its history

An elected 9-member Board of Commissioners currently governs Pierce Transit. Established in 1979, the company has expanded and now covers 292 square miles of Pierce County. What is more, in 2019, they provided more than 9 million rides to people to various destinations both within the County and beyond its borders. Their services help all the citizens of this area reach their workplaces, schools, and important meetings.

One can find Pierce Transit facilities in several cities, including mentioned above Tacoma and Lakewood. As noted, these places struggle with high crime rates. The company, whose mission is to guarantee safe and reliable transportation, needs to feel safe. Thus, Pierce Transit chose to apply safety and privacy window films on their buildings.

How did we help?

Each case requires a unique solution. Our team tailored the films to the needs of three different facilities of Pierce Transit. One of them is located in Tacoma while two others are in Lakewood.

Safety for the facility in Tacoma (505 E 25th ST)

The building in Tacoma is the company’s biggest and most versatile facility. What is more, you may find their customer service center in this very building. Apart from that, there are 6 transit zones and approximately 2,400 parking spots there. The commuters may not only choose busses or trains to reach their destination from Tacoma Dome but they can also park their private vehicles there for up to 24 hours. All this made the safety of this very facility of utmost importance.

Here we installed Solar Gard Panorama Hilite 8 mil Safety and Security Film anchoring it to the frame using silicone DowSil 995. Our company is a trusted Panorama Dealer, so we can provide our clients with this film. Otherwise, it would be impossible to purchase it on your own. Not so many businesses decide to have this specific film applied to their windows. The reasons are its extremely high price and tough application. Our team specializes in installing the film, so all the risk totally pays off.

Safety and Privacy fo the Facilities in Lakewood (3701 96th St SW & 3720 96th St SW)

Pierce Transit facilities in Lakewood included its needed another approach.

We installed Solar Gard Armorcoat 14 mil safety and security window film on the first floors of both buildings. Additionally, we applied wet glazing DowSil 995 Sealant. For Pierce Transit Training Center (3720 96th St SW) we added Solar Gard byDesign white frost film in their security room for enhanced privacy. In this way, the building is not only safe but also protected from unexpected onlookers.
